From the Director | Portland Independent School
Parenting is one of the most important jobs we will ever do. I’ve always felt driven to inspire well-being in families and children, which is why I direct family development at Summa Academy.
I am committed to empowering parents with ongoing dialogue and discussion in the Summa BRIDGE (Building Relationships in Dynamic Group Engagement) program. The BRIDGE meetings are designed to support parents with the most up-to-date information on brain research and child development. Our parent meetings are engaging, fun, interesting, and relevant.
Over the last 30 years, I have continually seen changes in parents who engage Natural Learning Relationships. I am blown away by the growth I see in parents. They talk about positive changes in the way they think and feel, as well as increased access to their purpose and meaning. In such conversations, it is clear to me that the relationship of deep connection with your child’s developmental moment is a key motivator for that change. Adults grow as much as children.
In the parent meetings we create a bridge between home and school that supports a student who is inspired, intuitive, and can access inner wisdom to make a contribution beyond any core standard. We work together to prepare our students to meet the challenges of today with knowledge, emotional intelligence, and inspiration to shape the future.
This work continually inspires my interest to support parents, family growth, and deep connection with children. We are a learning community where students, educators and parents thrive. I hope you will join us.
With the very best regards,
Josette Luvmour, PhD
